Apple Seeks New Patent for Antenna Solutions
© Marcin Wichary

Apple is seeking a new patent for antenna solutions according to the patent application released by the US Patent & Trademark Office. The new patent is about antenna solutions which will focus on better reception and also give way to sleeker phones.
The new patent has been discovered by Patently Apple and it describes the new patent as a new composite which is made of individual foam cells. These cells will allow hidden antennas access to airwaves by virtue of their arrangement which create a radio transparent window in the device's case. The composite in the new patent can also be used for designing the device case, keeping in line with the company's design philosophy.
The manufacturing process for the composite antenna window will also be seamless because of the new method of joining the composite material together instead of the shrinking process. Apple is pushing towards the sleek devices that it envisions but it is unlikely that this new patent will find any place in the iPhone 5.

Guide to Filing Patents
© Phil Manker

Filing patents for utilities requires a Utility Patent Application Form or a transmittal letter that must be filed with every application to instruct the patent office as to what types of papers are being filed, such as a specification, claims, drawings, declaration, information disclosure statement, etc. A fee transmittal form is then used to calculate the prescribed filing fees and indicate the method of payment.

The fees depend on the number of sheets of paper in the specification and drawings, as well as the types of claims presented. An application data sheet may be voluntarily submitted which includes bibliographic data such as applicant information, correspondence information, and application information. The specification, which is a written description of the invention and the manner and process of making and using it, should be written in full, clear, concise and exact terms.
